Is LifeAnon a religious organization or a part of AA or Al-Anon?

No. LifeAnon is not a religious group, nor is it affiliated with AA or Al-Anon. While LifeAnon was developed using a 12-Step model similar to AA and Al-Anon, it's a completely independent community support group where people of all faiths, or none, are welcome to attend.

Why would I come to a LifeAnon meeting? There's nothing really "wrong" with me.

It's true. Many support groups are centered around a specific behavior or issue, and if that issue or behavior doesn't apply to you then there's no reason to attend a meeting. All of us have times, though, when we must deal with confusing or painful feelings that can leave us feeling hopeless and alone. LifeAnon was created as a forum for anyone wishing to experience the transformative power that comes from sharing these kinds of feelings in a compassionate, non-judgmental setting. While LifeAnon can't solve your problems, it can create a space so that you at least don't have to be alone with them.

What happens at a LifeAnon meeting? What can I expect?

LifeAnon is a self-directed group run by participant volunteers. Meetings follow a preditable format:

- Greeting/Opening

- Speaker (5-10 minute topic share of speaker's choice)

- Group Share

- 5 minute silent reflection

- Closing

Will I have to lead a meeting?

No. No one is obligated to lead a meeting or volunteer. Over time, however, it may be something you feel confident or willing to do.

Does it cost anything to attend?

No. LifeAnon charges nothing to attend. Donations are accepted to cover the costs of renting the meeting space and making paper copies when necessary. This a nonprofit group.
